Some Background - Who I Am

A little bit of background on me first. I'm an only child. I just turned 22 this last February. I own a ferret, Minkey, two dogs, a goat, and three fish. The dogs and the goat stay with my parents when I'm not living at home. The fish... well, they went with me to the dorm at school for one whole semester. The ferret stays with me though. She's MY pet, my long fuzzy companion.

My interests are really all over the place, but a general overview - apart from the books and movies part of my webpage, over on the nav bar to your left - would have to include my gaming. I love computer games, but my favorate kind are console games. I own a Sega Dreamcast, an X-Box, a Gameboy Advance, and my fiance has a Gamecube.

Achievements

Secondly, I just received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (with a minor in mathematics) from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa May 2002. I started going there August 1998, while still living at home. I moved into Rose Towers dorm on campus my Junior year, August 2000, and stayed there until my graduation. (Hopefully I'll have a picture of my graduation up soon - I'll warn ya though, it's not a very good picture).

My Fiance

Another significant event in my life right now is my engagement to my fiance, Andy Floyd. Our story is as follows: Rose Towers is an apartment-like dorm, and when I moved in I shared a kitchen, living room and bathroom with another bedroom. I met my suite-mate, Debra Clanton, the first day I moved in, but my roommate never showed. About two weeks into school at midnight on a school night, both Debra and I were kept awake by some people yelling down in the tennis court outside. Well, we complained about it to each other and I ended up opening my window and screaming down at the people below to shut up, because people were trying to sleep. A week or two later, a person came by who was switching rooms and wondered if she could be my roommate, and I said yes. Her name was Beth, and it turns out she knew my next-door neighbors, who were all guys. Well, two of them helped her move in, and we all hit it off really well and I ended up going next door and playing a Sega Dreamcast game with them. A few days later, after some visiting, I mentioned the rude people outside who'd kept Debra and me up one night, and Andy said "Oh, that was you!". Anyway, over the course of that semester Andy and I got involved in this kinda love quandrangle thing with our roommates and some Soap-Opera type stuff, but in the end we managed to get past all our obstacles and we've been together for a long time now. We've been engaged since my birthday, February 3rd 2002.

Here's a picture from the day of the engagement, when a couple of my friends came over to congratulate me. I'm in the middle with the ring (obviously), my best friend Caroline is on the left, and Moses is on my right. Caroline and Moses are two people that I've basically grown up with. We've known each other since we were little kids, and they're kind of like my surrogate siblings.

What I'm Doing Now

Well, right now it's summer and I'm back at home with my parents. Andy is looking for a job, and we're planning on getting married soon, hopefully this August. I'm going to go to grad school either at the University of Alabama or UAB this Fall 2002, don't know which yet. So soon I'll be slaving away in a lab somewhere, because I'm sticking with Chemistry. Wish me luck! I'm sure I'll need it. I'm going to pretend I'm going to keep this site updated, but it just doesn't happen that often. :) Check out my books and movies page if you're interested in some more info about my interests. I suppose I should put a gaming page up too, but, well, that's a project for another day.
